Everton Break Transfer Record by Sigurdsson

Everton again made a buzz in the summer transfer market in 2017. The Toffees broke their most expensive transfer record to recruit attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City.

To bring the Icelandic player, Everton have to pay 45 million pounds sterling to Swansea. Sigurdsson contracted Everton until June 2022.

Sigurdsson became Everton’s eighth hire in the transfer market this summer. Previously Wayne Rooney, Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez, Henry Onyekuru and Cucu Martina.

“Hopefully I will be able to continue to create and score goals for the team and contribute to the success we are looking for in this club,” Sigurdsson told Everton TV.

Sigurdsson is one of the most creative players in the Premier League. He was last season involved in 21 goals scored by Swansea in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Everton took off senior midfielder Gareth Barry to West Bromwich Albion. The 36-year-old was contracted for a year, but did not say how much the transfer was worth.
