Lewandowski Continues to Buru the Champions League Trophy

Bayern Munich football star Robert Lewandowski is still curious about the Champions League. Champions League title became the main target of Lewandowski.

Throughout his career, the Polish international has won many titles with Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. The details, five Bundesliga titles and two DFB Cups.

However, Lewandowski still does not have a champion medal at European level. The best achievement is to go to the Champions League final, and lose at Bayern’s hands in 2014.

Lewandowski then joined Bayern two seasons later for the Champions League. Unfortunately, in Lewandowski’s first three seasons Die Roten stuck in the semi-finals even in 2016/2017 kicked out in the quarterfinals at the hands of defending champions Real Madrid.

“Yes (the target of winning the Champions League), having won many Bundesliga and DFB Cups, you have to start thinking about other trophies,” said the 29-year-old footballer to ESPNFC.

“Last season, we were disappointed because we knew we played well but sometimes in football, a few bad minutes meant you were knocked out of the Champions League.”

Lewandowski and Bayern missions start again this season. However, Bayern had just suffered a 0-3 defeat at Paris St. Germain in group phase. That result sparked the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti from the coach’s seat replaced by Jupp Heynckes, the coach who had delivered the treble four years ago.

“Now there is a new season and a new challenge with a new coach, sometimes it is not easy when you are in a club that switches coaches in the middle of the season but we have to start now,” Lewandowski continued.

“We are now five points behind Dortmund (in the Bundesliga) but there are still a lot of games until the end of the season but in the Champions League, after our defeat at PSG we have a job to finish to qualify, we have to play until the end. “Maybe we will win the Champions League and the Bundesliga.”

This weekend, Bayern will be back in the Bundesliga by hosting Freiburg before Celtic’s arrival in the Champions League group stage, next week.
